It’s the “Most Wonderful Time of the Year” here at Rockhaven, meaning we are all decked out and ready for Christmas!
Over the first two weekends in December, hundreds of visitors will descend on our quaint historic village for the very special experience we call Olde Tyme Christmas. If you aren’t already planning to come, you might want to add it to your holiday calendar.
Tour of Inns and B&Bs
A new and exciting addition to the December schedule includes us! The first annual Tour of Historic Inns of Harpers Ferry and Bolivar will introduce ticket holders to six beautiful lodging establishment bedecked in their holiday finery. These inns are typically open only to paying guests, so here’s a great chance to peek inside and learn some fascinating history. Most will also offer light refreshments.
Sponsored by the Harper Ferry-Bolivar Historic Town Foundation, the tour proceeds will support much-needed restoration of the First Zion Baptist Church. After you have toured the two B&Bs in Lower Town, catch the shuttle bus run by River Riders for a free ride to the inns in Upper Town and Bolivar. While you are up the hill, you should also check out one of several great restaurants and cafes available, plus the art galleries.
Buy your $20 ticket here in advance or pick up a day-of ticket in Lower Town by the leather shop.
Olde Tyme Christmas
Olde Tyme Christmas opens with a reception and tree lighting around 6:30 pm on Friday, November 30. On the first two Saturdays of December (the 1st and 8th), shops are open from 10 am to 9 pm. On the Sundays (the 2nd and 9th), shops are open until 6 pm. Throughout all four days of the event, you’ll also find living history displays, musical performances, wagon rides, family activities and more! Most events are free, and our local restaurants will be serving up great meals to keep you well fueled. Here’s the schedule:
These first two weekends in December are a great time to come to town, especially if you have never experienced a Harpers Ferry Christmas season. We hope to see you here!
